The front of the Richardson House is distinguished by a serpentine-shaped portico with concave entrance niche. The Ionic capitals on both porticoes and the front exterior balustrade are made of imported artificial stone called "coadestone" after its London creator.
"Richardson House is a rich reinterpretation of classical forms which trace their way through Regency England to the late Renaissance of Palladio to remote antiquity."
